We all know something others don’t know!

I recently shared some ideas and techniques around effective communication with law students in Stockholm, part of the Roschier Talent Academy initiative.

It's a 3-day programme (I play a small role in it) created by this innovative firm, one of many reasons for it winning European Law Firm of the Year 2023!

What struck me during our session on networking, presenting (and of course storytelling) was how engaged the students were and the quality of their questions. For example, I was asked how young people can overcome a sense of inadequacy when they're thrust into a room full of experienced professionals.

In this situation, I think you've got to consider what advantages you have over the older people:

a) you've got a more up-to-date understanding of how things are taught at university, and;

b) you've got a better sense of how an organisation is perceived from the outside than those who know it intimately.

Both create possibilities for a really interesting conversation - contrasting perspectives on a common theme and a chance to educate each other!
